2024 CAMPING JAMBOREE
Where: Jetty Park Campground - 9035 Campground Cir.
Cape Canaveral, FL 32920
When: November 1-3
Join The FOUNDATION as we end Down Syndrome Awareness Month under the stars and around the campfire!
As Down Syndrome Awareness Month winds down, we'll be cranking up the fun at Jetty Park! Come pitch your tent, roll out the sleeping bags, and join us 'round the campfire to roast marshmallows, sing songs, and tell stories. On Saturday and Sunday, your family can choose from a variety of activities...fish, swim, run, jump, play or just HAVE FUN!
The beach is beautiful and the park has many amenities including a fantastic, big playground, sand volleyball pits, a fully accessible fishing pier, and sport equipment rentals such as boogie boards, kayaks, and stand-up paddle boards.
This is an event for ALL levels of campers - from the most experienced to the first-timer! When you camp at the beach you are sure to have a great time! We want our members to have fun but we also want to give the experience of camping to our families because it is a GREAT way to be included in the community.
WHAT TO EXPECT?
This is a group camping experience so every camper and participant will be asked to choose one shift for a volunteer role (see the registration form on our website). Camping works best when we all pitch in...thanks in advance for signing up to help make the weekend run smoothly! Check-in will be on Friday night. The FOUNDATION will have volunteers to help our families pitch their tents and get set up in our big field. There will be water in the group area but not at each individual tent site. There is no electricity available in the camp area. Once your site is ready you will be free to explore the grounds and get to know the area. There are no 'planned activities' for Friday.
Only REGISTERED campers and volunteers will be allowed in the camping area. Comfort Stations throughout the campsite loops feature private toilets, showers, and laundry facilities. The General Store at the main building sells ice and other necessities should you forget anything.
WHAT TO BRING
Each family will be responsible for their own tent, sleeping gear, personal items, drinks, snacks, and spending money. We do have a limited supply of tents which will be available on a "first requested, first served basis" - be sure to register early and let us know. What to do if you don't want to camp... but you do want to come play and have fun? We understand that camping isn't for everyone, so if you would like to be a part of the Camping Jamboree but don't quite have it in you to spend the night with little critters or things that go bump in the night, you can still come for the day on Saturday!
We want to INCLUDE everyone - so just let us know that you won't be popping a tent but would like to join us. If that is the case, please select "Saturday day only" on your reservation and we will send you all of the details you need to join us.
We can't wait to see YOU and your family at Jetty Park!
Registration Deadlines:
October 11, 2024, to receive a t-shirt
October 21, 2024, last day to register
RV reservations must be made by October 11th to be guaranteed. We have a limited number of RV spots and if they sell out we will have to look for spaces not with our group (if they are even available).
