November 11-13, 2016

...and MORE FUN!!
As Down Syndrome Awareness Month winds down, we'll be cranking up the fun at Jetty Park! Come pitch your tent, roll out the sleeping bags and join us 'round the campfire to roast marshmallows, sing songs and tell stories. On Saturday and Sunday, your family can choose from a variety of activities...fish, swim, run, jump, play or just HAVE FUN!
The beach is beautiful and the park has many amenities including a fantastic, big playground, sand volleyball pits, a fully accessible fishing pier and sport equipment rentals such as boogie boards, kayaks and stand-up paddle boards. At certain times of the day, you can wave to the passengers on the big cruise ships as they sail in and out of Port Canaveral.
WHAT to EXPECT?
This is a group camping experience so every camper and participant will be asked to choose one shift for a volunteer role (see the registration form below). Camping works best we all pitch in...thanks in advance for signing up to help make the weekend run smoothly!
Check will be on Friday night. The FOUNDATION will have volunteers to come help our families pitch their tents and get set up in our big field. There will be water in the group area but not at each individual tent site. There is no electricity available in the camp area.
Once your site is ready you will be free to explore the grounds and get to know the area. There are no 'planned activities' for Friday.
Saturday and Sunday mornings The FOUNDATION will provide a light breakfast, but you are welcome to bring your own favorite morning treats, as well. After breakfast you can head out to play in the surf, go fishing, rent a kayak or relax on the beach. Just be sure you come back with an appetite, as we will be grilling hot dogs and hamburgers at one of the great pavilions in the campground.
(Families who do not want to participate in the overnight camping are certainly welcome to join us for the dinner celebration Saturday evening, however, please be sure to register and RSVP for dinner so we'll be sure to have plenty to go around.)
After dinner we'll roast marshmallows at the bonfire and have a sing-along with our families and friends! You can also go for a walk down the pier or just enjoy sitting by the waves under the stars...
Sunday morning, we'll have another light breakfast to start your day. Afterwards, we'll start to clean up camp, but you can spend as much of the day as you like at this Florida paradise! To see all of the options Jetty Park has to offer campers visit their website.(Some activities may require advanced reservations. Activities requiring additional fees will be at your own expense.)
Only REGISTERED campers and volunteers will be allowed in the camping area. Comfort Stations throughout the campsite loops feature private toilets, showers and laundry facilities. The General Store at the main building sells ice and other necessities should you forget anything.
WHAT TO BRING
Each family will be responsible for your own tent, sleeping gear, personal items, drinks, snacks and spending money. Here's a simple camping list that may help you get organized. (We do have a limited supply of tents which will be available on a "first requested, first served basis" - be sure to register early and let us know.)
what to do if you dont want to camp...
but you do want to come play&and have fun
We understand that camping isn't for everyone, so if you would like to be a part of the Camping Jamboree but don't quite have it in you to spend the night with little critters or things that go bump in the night, you can still come for the day, join us for dinner, or volunteer to pick up the coffee on Sunday morning and have breakfast with us!
We want to INCLUDE everyone - so just let us know that you won't be popping a tent but would like to join us. If that is the case, please note in your reservation that it is a non-camping request and we will send you all of the details you need to join us.
